Once you have decided on the colors in your kitchen, consider what you want the countertops surface to look like. Should it match, blend in or provide contrast to the appliances, cabinets and wall? You may find a granite countertop that you want to be the centerpiece, and everything else is ancillary. The choice is yours. Many people with islands prefer their granite kitchen tops to be lighter or darker than other surfaces. The combinations are endless, so have fun exploring all the combinations of possibilities in granite kitchen counter tops and marble kitchen countertops.
You should understand a few things about seams. Because of its weight, stone is quarried in slabs of manageable size. This minimizes the risk of cracking in transit. Domestically, Vermont, New Hampshire and Georgia are the largest producers. Whether your granite top will require a seam depends on the size and design. We are working with natural stone and though we fabricate your counter to extremely accurate specifications, there are sometimes seams. Also, when two or more pieces are required, we use stone from the same slab or the one mined with it to maintain the same color and shading. You will notice that even within one slab there may be color variations. However, seams are so thin with our technology, they are barely perceptible.
